Hailing from the mountains of Southwestern Virginia, Rev. Rebecca came to Central UMC to begin her 21st year of ministry in The United Methodist Church. As a cradle United Methodist, she became a preacher’s child at the age of three. Raised in the United Methodist Church, she never anticipated that she would be called by God to serve among his people as a United Methodist pastor. This is where she finds the most peace as she serves among God’s people!

Prior to arriving in Mathews in late June 2023, she has served as the Pastor of The Prospect Charge, on the then Farmville District. She began ministry among the three churches of the Charge, Prospect, Smyrna and Olive Branch United Methodist Churches, while she concluded her seminary studies at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington D.C. For five year, she was loved into ministry by these folks. She then served among the people of Annandale United Methodist Church, on the then Alexandria District, as the Associate Pastor for two years following her ordination as an elder in the summer of 2008. After leaving that appointment, for the next three years she served as the pastor of St. James United Methodist church on the then, Staunton District prior to her most recent appointment as the Senior Pastor of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Oldhams, VA, on the current Mission Rivers District, for the last 10 years.

She and her son, Charles, look forward to what God has in store, as they serve among the people of Central United Methodist Church and the larger Mathews community. She is blessed to have her parent’s and family’s love and influence in her life and ministry. She is also blessed by the love and support of her boyfriend, who serves the communities of southern Westmoreland County, as their Volunteer Fire Chief, with the members of Cople District Volunteer Fire Department. His daughters and extended family are also sources of great joy and support in her life.

Come and join her and the people of Central United Methodist Church any Sunday at 121 Church St. in the heart of Mathews, for worship at 9:15a.m. followed by Sunday School at 10:15a.m.
